Lachlan Poustie is the Head of the Africa Group and Partner in the Project Development & Finance practice at Shearman & Sterling LLP. Lachlan has extensive experience acting for export credit agencies, development finance institutions, commercial lenders and sponsors on the financing of highly complex mining, infrastructure and energy projects in Africa and across the globe. Lachlan is ranked as a leading lawyer in directories and is recognized by his clients for his negotiation skills and expertise in project financing. His recent work includes representing (i) Glencore and SNIM-sponsored El Aouj Mining Company on all aspects of its $2.5 billion integrated iron ore project in Mauritania; (ii) the lenders (including IFC, AFDB, ING and EDC) on the $1.6 billion EGA/GAC bauxite mining and infrastructure project in Guinea; (iii) Orion Mine Finance on its financing for HPX in relation to the Nimba iron ore project in Guinea; and (iv) the lenders, including IFC, on the $700 million COMILOG 2020 magnesium mine project in Gabon.
