With nearly two decades of experience, Karien Lotter-Doğru stands out as a committed advocate for responsible and sustainable practices in land access, social impact management, and resettlement within the mining sector. 

 

Before joining Anglo American in 2018, Karien served as a social impact consultant, working on projects across 20+ African countries. This extensive background deepened her understanding of the intricate social dynamics in the Global South, providing valuable insights into the evolving challenges faced by communities in the vicinity of mining operations.  

 

Within Anglo American, Karien has played a central role in shaping the company's strategic approach to social land access and resettlement. As a key contributor, she played a vital role in developing the Social Way, Anglo's leading social performance management system, and establishing robust governance frameworks and internal capacity-building programs. These initiatives collectively underscore Anglo American's commitment to responsible mining practices and sustainable operations. 

 

Karien's professional expertise includes adept strategic acumen, risk management skills, and the ability to foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders. Her commitment to continuous improvement is demonstrated through the establishment of a dynamic community of practice within Anglo American, benefiting colleagues organization-wide.
