Dr. Jean-Marie Kanda is an esteemed leader in engineering and academia. He served as dean of the polytechnic faculty of the University of Lubumbashi
 until September 2023 for a 3-year term. professor and member of the chemistry department and director of the mineral processing laboratory at the University of Lubumbashi, in the DRC.

With a Ph.D in  engineering sciences from the University of Liège, Belgium, he has more than two decades of academic excellence. He is also the Director of the African Center of Excellence for Batteries (CAEB), which drives innovation in battery research. Mastering mineral processing, environmental analysis and water quality assessment, he contributes to the industry as Technical-Commercial Representative of Cytec, Solvay group (Mineral Processing Business Unit) in DR Congo
Administrator and member of the Board of Directors of the Congolese Battery Council, a government structure which supports the DRC's ambition to develop a battery value chain in a pan-African vision.
