Driving sustainable investment in African Mining

Hon. Kornelia Shilunga

Deputy Minister Ministry of Mines & Energy, Republic of Namibia

Hon Kornelia Kashiimbindjola Shilunga (MP), was born in 25 May 1970 at Okadila in Oshana Region. 

She is a Member of Parliament since 2015, and is the current Deputy Minister of Mines & Energy, a first woman Deputy Minister at the Ministry.
Before joining the National Assembly in 2015 and subsequently the Ministry of Mines & Energy, Hon Shilunga racked up an impressive career portfolio as follows, 
•    Teacher (1990)
•    Registered Nurse (1991-1997)
•    Liaison Officer in the Office of the President, Department of Women Affairs responsible for two regions Oshana & Omusati (1997-2000)
•    Senior Chief Community Liaison Officer, Ministry of Gender, Equality & Child Welfare (2000-2008)
•    Entrepreneur (2008-2014)
Apart from being a formidable business personality, Hon Shilunga also served as a member of the Advisory Committee of Skill Share international In Namibia and a Member of the Women & Child Protection Unit Committee for Oshana Region.
She has been a member of the Zonal Release Board in the Ministry of Safety & Security, responsible for Oshana, Omusati, Oshikoto, Ohangwena & Kunene Regions.
She was also a member of the Oshakati East Constituency Development Committee (CDC) and a member of the Oshana Regional Food Security & Nutrition Program.
She serves as a Chairperson of Namibian Energy Council
She is also the patron of Women in Mining Association of Namibia
Patron of the World Energy Council (Namibia Platform)


Hon Shilunga holds the following,
•    Master Degree in Public Policy & Administration (UNAM & ISS Netherlands)
•    Master Degree in Business Administration (ESAMI)
•    Bachelor Degree in Law (UNAM)
•    Bachelor Degree in Nursing Education & Community Health (UNAM)
•    Diploma in Nursing Sciences General, Community Psychiatry and Midwifery Sciences (UNAM)
Apart from being a renowned entrepreneur and servant to the Namibian Nation, Hon Shilunga has deep interests in Economic empowerment of Small & Medium Entrepreneurs as well as women advancement.
