Driving sustainable investment in African Mining

H.E Sanjay Lohiya

Additional Secretary, Ministry of Mines Government of India

Mr. Sanjay Lohiya is a First Division in Physics (Hons) from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. He belongs to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Assam- Meghalaya cadre, 1994 Batch.
While in service, he has completed training on E-Governance: Opportunities and Challenges (Bangalore), Natural Resource Management (Mysore) & Training of World Bank Procurement Procedure. 
He has served in important positions both in State Government as well as in the Centre. 
While in State Government, he has served as The Commissioner & Secretary to Chief Minister, Assam and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Assam. 
While in the Central Government, He joined as Joint Secretary in Ministry of Mines in October, 2020 and became Additional Secretary (Mines) with effect from 26th March, 2021. Apart from being Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Mines, he holds additional charge of Controller General (CG) of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM).
After his joining in the Ministry of Mines, the Ministry has implemented a number of far-reaching reforms in the mining sector. The reforms focus on expediting exploration coverage, promoting private sector in exploration, fast-tracking auction of mineral concessions, promoting ease of doing business in mining sector and introduction of latest technology in mining sector.
