General Manager: Exports Toyota South Africa Motors

Gerhard, with extensive experience in the automotive industry and a focus on Automotive Sector Trade-Related Investment Measures Administration, is dedicated to shaping African Automotive Policy as an active member of the African Association of Automotive Manufacturers (AAAM). Currently, the General Manager of Exports at Toyota South Africa, he began his career in mining, transitioned to aluminum smelting, and has been in the automotive sector since 2002.

Given his expertise in Trade-Related Investment Measures Administration, Gerhard has been selected for a panel discussing the potential introduction of similar policies for the mining sector. He oversees Toyota's vehicle exports to Africa and Europe, including catalytic converter exports to Europe. Holding an MBL from Unisa Business Leadership School and a BEng from the University of Pretoria, he is not only a dedicated professional but also celebrates 30 years of marriage with Marina and is a proud father of three sons. Gerhard's ongoing challenge involves aligning Toyota's product line-up with European emission reduction goals for a post-ICE ban era.
