David Izzo

Deputy Director of Economic Diplomacy French Europe and Foreign Affairs Ministry

David Izzo is Deputy Director for Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. Between 2019 and 2023 he was Ambassador of the French Republic to Mozambique. As a diplomat, David Izzo has held various posts abroad, notably in Africa and Latin America. He was first secretary at the embassy in N'Djamena (Chad) from 1992 to 1994, deputy consul at the consulate in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) from 1996 to 1999, first secretary at the embassy in Guatemala City (Guatemala) from 1999 to 2002, press counsellor at the embassy in Brasilia (Brazil) from 2002 to 2005, first counsellor at the embassy in Bogotá (Colombia) from 2008 to 2010.

From 2012 to 2014, he was chief of staff and then deputy chief of staff to Hélène Conway-Mouret, Minister for the French Abroad. From April to August 2014, he was chief of staff to Fleur Pellerin, then Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Tourism Development and French Nationals Abroad. In 2015, he was appointed Ambassador of the French Republic to El Salvador, before being appointed Ambassador to Mozambique from 2019 to 2022.
