Driving sustainable investment in African Mining

Tony is a minerals processing engineer, and has over 30 years’ global mining experience in various technical, operational and strategic leadership roles. These span mineral flowsheet development including Amplats Research Centre as a senior research metallurgist in 1997; mineral processing plant design and operation management culminating in group technical manager role for AngloPlats then 18 processing plants and projects’ in 2005; as a metallurgical lead in various global due diligence work, and as a metallurgical lead in combined assurance at AngloGoldAshanti; Board participation and leadership on various science and engineering groups including as a chair of SAMMRI (South African Minerals to Metals Research Initiative) in 20i7 to 2019; and recently as a champion for Decarbonisation and Africa Skills Improvement drive and Energy mix projects for Amira Global with P-ADI and Centre of Excellence for full value chain processing.

Tony has travelled for work and leisure to over 65 countries on all continents and considers the understanding of local context a key component for sustainable mining, infrastructure and manufacturing development. His passion is the optimisation of mineral endowment exploitation, which includes appropriate research, global benchmarks and body of knowledge including recent Ai capabilities.
