Driving sustainable investment in African Mining

EuroGeoSurveys

Stand: T36

EuroGeoSurveys (EGS) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to representing the Geological Surveys of Europe. It plays a pivotal role by engaging in collaborative research and activities through its Expert Groups and Task Forces. By providing open-access, harmonised geological maps, data, and data infrastructure, EGS contributes valuable information to European institutions, regulators, industry, and the public. The organisation's commitment lies in delivering expert, balanced, and practical pan-European geoscience data and advice, guiding policy formulation, and addressing key societal challenges.

EGS conducts extensive research covering a diverse range of topics through its Expert Groups. The principal purpose of EGS is to provide public earth science knowledge to support the EU's competitiveness, social well-being, environmental management, and international commitments. To achieve this, EGS actively participates in numerous EU-funded projects and self-funded initiatives. A key project of EGS is the Pan-African Support to Geological Sciences and Technology Africa-EU Partnership (PanAfGeo-2). Currently in its second phase, PanAfGeo supports the training of geoscientific staff from African Geological Surveys. The project focuses on developing an innovative training programme that enhances the professional competencies of participants to complement their technical skills and qualifications. The training programme is delivered by world-class geoscientific experts from both African and European Geological Surveys.
