Women in Mining

Attracting women to the mining industry not only promotes diversity but can also bring improved economic performance and better decision making processes.

Recent appointments of Elizabeth Gains as CEO and Julie Shuttleworth as Deputy CEO of Fortescue, Marie Inkster as CEO of Lundin Mining and Noreen Doyle as Chair of Newmont’s Board prove that the sector is changing but there is still a long way to go to achieve true equality.

Mining Indaba supports the move to a more diverse future and in 2019 partnered with Women in Mining UK, International Women in Mining and Women in Mining South Africa to help promote the value women bring to the industry.
