The following information applies to accredited press for the 2012 Mining Indaba. Accredited press are those individuals who have submitted an application for press access and have been approved by the organisers.
On-Site Registration -Badge Pick-Up
Accredited members who have received confirmation of qualification will have their badge ready for pick up starting 6 February 2012 at 8:00 am. It is required that you provide a photo identification and business card showing your name and publication affiliation to match the information supplied on your application. Along with your badge, you will receive your official Press Welcome Kit.
On-Site video & Photography Guidelines
All recorded videos and photography, recorded at the 2012 Mining Indaba and published in a public forum (print, website, blogs, DVDs, or any other digital format) must must include a citation that the images were captured during the 2012 Investing in African Mining Indaba. Mining Indaba, LLC reserves the right to refuse publication of videos or photos if found to be inappropriate or damaging to the event or its participants. Please read all terms and conditions as noted below:
Video, Audio Recordings and Photography Terms and Conditions:
- No footage of conference operations is allowed
- No footage of conference presentations is allowed without special written approval by the speaker. If conference presentations are recorded in video format without the written permission from speakers or Mining Indaba LLC, then all future Mining Indaba privileges will be revoked for the offending organisation
- All images captured (video or photo) and published must cite that the photo was taken at 2012 Mining Indaba and include name of recording company or photographer
- All video crews must be accompanied by a credentialed member of the press
- Mining Indaba, LLC reserves the right to refuse publication of videos or photos if found to be inappropriate or damaging to the event or its participants
- Video teams cannot “set-up” recording in aisle ways or conference rooms. Video interviews can be recorded in the reserved press lounge, in the main atrium or within a sponsor’s stand – so long as sponsor has given permission for the recording. Interviews cannot be conducted in empty conference rooms. Individuals seen violating this rule will be asked to return to the press lounge; failure to do so could result in expulsion from the event.
Press Lounge
The official press lounge may only be accessed by accredited members of press. The lounge will be equipped with an audio feed from the main stage, wireless connection (password will be provided upon check-in to the lounge), and electrical points. Further the lounge will be staffed by the official Media Relations Firm of Mining Indaba, VUMA. Our press team will be able to facilitate questions and requests for interviews.
Mining Indaba will publish 10 official photos from each day of the event to a website. Please check with the lounge receptionist upon arrival for the web address for the photo location.
Request for Interviews
We are kindly requesting press to submit requests for interviews with the organisers or speakers before arrival to the event. This will allow enough time to manage schedules and ensure that the interviewee is available at the requested time and/or date. The press lounge will be located in Hall 4B. Hours of operation are included below.
