2012 Press Application is No Longer Avialable

On-Site Press Registration for New Applicants

Press registration will open on Monday 6 February at 8:00 AM; please proceed to the press registration desk. If you have not submitted a press application, then please read the following. On-site press registration is limited. Note you must supply the documents below when applying for press accreditation. Your on-site press application will be subject to review and the terms and conditions below will apply.

In order for your application to be approved, you will need to provde the following when submitting your registration form; failure to provide these documents will prohibit our team from effecitvely reviewing your application.

  • Photo identification card or a Presse Card
  • Business card at your current company showing job title, media company name; OR
  • A copy of the most current magazine showing your name and job title as editor of the magazine
  • 2 copies of articles written within the last 4 months showing your name as the editor, writer, journalist on the articles
  • Special note for freelance journalists: if you are a freelance journalist on assignment for a publication or news outlet, you will need to provide a letter of assignment written and signed by a representative from the news organisation on the organisation lettehead. Please note that the news organisation must meet the standards noted below.

PUBLICATION TYPES
Press credentials will not be granted to any individuals holding a title of publisher, sales, corporate media executive, public relations, marketing, consultant or any other non-editorial professional who does not meet the qualification criteria. In addition, press access is reserved for qualifying news agencies only this may include but not limited to: business-to-business trade publishers (either print and/or online), business-to-consumer publishers (either print or online), and/or national and international newspapers, magazines. Each application will be reviewed to ensure that the credentials are met. Regardless of job title, press accreditation will not be granted if your organisation is not considered one of the aforementioned publication types.

EDITORIAL TITLES
Press credentials are reserved for qualified editorial professionals ONLY. Mining Indaba LLC, organiser of the 2012 Investing in African Mining Indaba, reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to deny or withdraw the accreditation of any member misusing press credentials conferred upon them or who do not meet the qualifying criteria.

Acceptable editorial titles: editor, writer, contributor, columnist, author, correspondent, journalist, or any other title that indicates you are exclusively the writer or editor of the magazine.

FREELANCE WRITERS -NEW FOR 2012
If you are a freelance writer and have been secured by a magazine or newspaper to cover the event, then you will need to provide a letter from the publication you will be representing. The letter must be signed by the head of the editorial department and be written on the publication’s letterhead. If you prefer to submit via email, chief editor of requesting publication may send recommendation letter directly to Maria Palombini, mpalombini@miningindaba.com. Please note: if the requesting publication does not meet the criteria as an acceptable “publication type” your application for press access will be denied. The letter recommendation will need to be provided in addition to standard press application required materials.

Pre-Conference Press Application: REQUIREMENT ELEMENTS

Credentialed press will receive COMPLIMENTARY conference registration to the 2012 Investing in African Mining Indaba. In order to qualify as credentialed press, you must complete the following:

  • Complete the 2012 Press Application form. The form will become available 5 September 2011 and will need to be submitted before 27 January 2012. All required fields on the form must be completed and required materials must be submitted to have your application reviewed.
  • Acceptable proof could include the following:
    • An official business card displaying your current job title and organisation you are representing
    • A copy of a print (PDF) or digital magazine/newspaper masthead published within the last 4 months displaying your role within the publication
    • Two written articles either in print or online with the byline featuring your name as editor, writer, journalist, correspondent written of the articles

Once we receive the completed application, we will review and notify you of application approval.

PRESS ACCESS INCLUDES:
Complimentary registration which provides access to all conference sessions, exhibit hall, and food and beverage functions held at the convention centre (ie. breakfast, lunch, and cocktail reception). Press access does not grant access to the annual golf tournament or invitation-only events.

EXCLUSIONS:
Press credentials will not be granted to any individuals holding a title of publisher, sales, corporate media executive, marketing or any other non-editorial professional who does not meet the qualification criteria. In addition, any individuals from an organisation, which recommends, advises, or consults on stocks, funds or any other monetary instruments, regardless of title, will not be granted press credentials. They may register as a conference delegate at the current published rate.

Terms and Conditions:
Mining Indaba LLC, organizer of the 2012 Investing in African Mining Indaba, reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to deny or withdraw the accreditation of any member misusing press credentials conferred upon them or who do not meet the qualifying criteria.

In addition Mining Indaba, LLC  reserves the right to amend and update these terms as it sees fit throughout the event process. All credentialed press will be notified should any changes to their status occur.

DEADLINE FOR PRESS APPLICATION AND REQUIRED DOCUMENTS IS 27 JANUARY 2012. Press registration will not occur on-site at the event. All interested members of the press are required to complete the press enquiry form and supply qualifying materials before 27 January 2012.
